“African American History Month” Project
February, 2012

Objective:   To read a book about an African American historical figure, complete a report, put together a costume, and give a presentation with a visual aid.

Due Date:   Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Assignment:

1.    Read a biography book of the life of an African American who is a famous figure in American history who made an impact on our  culture.

2.     Write a report filling in prepared sheets for that book.

3.     Prepare a 3 to 4 minute presentation for the class. Students may read their report as their presentation.

4.     Prepare and wear a costume to represent that individual.

5.     Include a visual aid (poster, video, skit, model, diorama,

Parent Awareness Letter January 31, 2012

     I am aware that my child has a Social Studies project due Tuesday, February 22, 2012. The project includes a biography report and presentation on an influential African American. My child will give a three-minute presentation on this Biography Day, Wednesday, February 22nd,  and include a visual aid, such as a poster, model, or video.

          I also realize that on this day they are asked to dress like their individual for their presentation.
