Northport Winter Festival
The 4th Grade's Homemade Winter Festival racing sled built with cardboard and gray duct tape won the sled contest for the second year in a row, Because the top was sprayed a copper paint, the students named it "The Flaming Penny" and painted their names on the top and side. Marshall piloted the first race and M'Konz commandeered the championship race.

Northport Wildcats 4th & 5th Grade Boys Basketball Team
Northport started a 4th and 5th grade basketball team last year for the first time. The boys played in the Traverse City Elementary 5th Grade League in Traverse City. After a slow start, they began putting it together and won 3 out of their last 5 games. This included a rematch against Immaculate Conception whom they lost to in their first game. They played their best game of the year. It included a half court shot by Ethan to end the first half. Ethan's 5th grade teammates were Brett, Gwe, Jakob, Austin, Harry, and Carson.
Thank you to the parents. The boys all had family watching and supporting them each game. And all games were in Traverse City.

Northport Wildcats 4th and 5th Grade Girls Basketball Team
These dedicated six girls practiced together for several months even though the only game experience they were able to find was half-time at a JV Boy's game and 2 scrimmages.

Cassidy, Claire, Joan, Lillian, Sarah, and Stormy should form the nucleus of a very good high school team in the future. |
